About the event
If you could think of one Hollywood movie about the American Revolution, it’s probably this one, for better or worse. “The Patriot” (2000, 165 mins) follows the fictional story of a veteran of the French and Indian Wars and his family as they are reluctantly pulled into the American Revolution. Set in South Carolina, it includes graphic depictions of the brutality of war. We’ll hear from historians Michael McGurty and Chad Johnson of New Windsor Cantonment State Historic Site, as they reveal the accuracies and inaccuracies of the film’s depiction of the American Revolution. This film is rated R and is not recommended for young or sensitive audiences.
Show starts promptly at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 6:00 PM. This program is free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served. Registration is recommended but not required. Refreshments provided by the Friends of Philipse Manor Hall.
